Comfort & Coffee

For those of you who don't know much about the education field, being a parapro requires you to wear a lot of different hats. One minute I'm stuck in an office doing endless paperwork, the next I'm on the floor trying to restrain an angry six year old! Basically, I come to work with the knowledge that I will do something totally unexpected that day.

Of course I aim to look professional when I go to my job, but in my career field, comfort (and a whole lot of Starbucks) is an absolute must. I wanted to establish a look that separated me from the students (I work at a high school currently and I look their age!), but also something that was trendy and comfortable. Old Navy, one of my favorite places to shop, carries a ton of great work clothes for a girl on the go. Check out my OOTD:

High Waisted Black Skinnies - Old Navy - Check them out here
Sweater Knit Long Sleeve Top - Old Navy - Check it out here
Red Fleece Infinity Scarf - Old Navy - Check it out here
Grey Studded Flats - Old Navy - Last Season
Denim Waisted Jacket - Canyon River Blues - Last Season

What are you rocking to work these days?

Ten Things About Me!

Happy Tuesday, y'all!

Since I am new to the blogging world, I thought it might be a good idea to share a little bit about myself. I am so excited to start this part of my life and hope I can learn a lot about my readers and other bloggers in the process! :)

1. I am a newlywed! My husband, Kyle, and I were married on January 18th, 2014 in Acworth, Georgia. He is the ying to my yang and I always have the best time with him.

2. I am a Christian. By no means am I perfect, and God has had his fair share of trouble with me, but I strive every day to live a life that reflects him! He's blessed me in ways that I couldn't possibly deserve, and every triumph I have I owe to him.

3. I have a degree in English Education from Appalachian State University (wait -- is that the team that beat Michigan? YES!). Right now I am working as a paraprofessional at a local high school, and although it can be stressful, I enjoy it. It's awesome to work with kids who genuinely need my help; it gives my life so much meaning and I thank God for the opportunity.

4. I grew up outside of Charlotte, NC. Although I loved my hometown, I always felt like I was meant to live in Georgia (most of my family lives here). Thankfully, God set me up with a guy who was from Georgia! We now reside outside of Atlanta in our new home.

5. I am embarrassingly obsessed with cruises and travelling to the Caribbean. No, but seriously. I've been cruising since I was six years old, and I even met my husband on a cruise! Every time I have any time off, we always try to plan a trip. 25 days until our next one!

6. I am a self-proclaimed bargainista. I refuse to buy anything full priced and I like to think I still maintain a stylish life style while staying within my budget.

7. I come from a family of debt-free enthusiasts. My parents have always stressed the importance of knowing exactly where my money is going. That's probably why I'm so careful about what I spend! Expect more posts on this topic in the future. :-)

8. I have a passion for animals, especially dogs. My own pup, Raleigh, is a golden/chow rescue and is so precious to me! She had a rough past and is scared of most people, but she loves us and we adore her. If my husband would let me, I would rescue a ton more!

9. Monogramming is one of my favorite hobbies. I invested in a Silhouette Cameo a year or so ago and I spend a lot of my free time creating vinyl goods for my friends and family. Personalized gifts are always the kindest ones, and I love how excited my friends get when they see their new goodies!

10.  I love to write! I developed a passion for writing in high school, and it's something that's stayed with me well into adulthood. I've worked on blogs, narratives, and even written articles for an online magazine back in college, Her Campus.

Thanks for reading!
